1930's Egyptian Revival Panel of Isis
This textile panel features Isis, goddess of magic, motherhood, and generally keeping things in balance. She’s shown holding lotus flowers — a nod to rebirth — and dressed in a checkerboard-patterned gown with layered jewellery, all stitched in bold, early 20th-century colours.
Made around the 1920s–1940s, during the Egyptian Revival period that followed all the Tutankhamun excitement. The fabric’s a natural cotton or linen, with appliqué work that was clearly made to be decorative, not ceremonial. A proper bit of old-school glamour with myth baked in.
