1930's Egyptian Revival Pyramids of Giza Set

£25.00Price

Egyptian Revival (1920s–30s) refers to a decorative style rooted in ancient Egyptian imagery, reinterpreted through the clean geometry and graphic clarity of Art Deco.

Its popularity surged after the discovery of Tutankhamun’s tomb in 1922, influencing design across jewellery, sculpture, furniture, ceramics, and metalwork. Rather than literal copies, motifs such as lotus flowers, scarabs, winged figures, and stepped forms were stylised, flattened, and made symmetrical — aligning Egyptian symbolism with the modernist language of the interwar period.

Likely little souvenirs brought back from visiting Egypt - these little set represents the 3 major pyramids of Giza (Khufu's Great Pyramid, Khafre's Pyramid, Menkaure's Pyramid) and a 4th smaller 'Queens' pyramid.  Not quite to scale or a perfect graduated set (not even sure it was meant to be?) - but the Art Deco lines and clear style of the time make them a cool little piece of design history.
