1980's Studio Pottery Letter Holder
This half-moon pottery form has been hand-built with scored horizontal lines, then finished in deep earthy black with flashes of ochre and red racing around the base. Very late-70s/80s energy — part sculpture, part functional object.
We’re picturing it holding letters by the door, corralling loose papers on a desk, or just sitting there as a piece of pottery sculpture in its own right.
Stamped with a potter’s mark underneath, most likely a European studio piece, it’s one of those objects that blurs the line between useful and purely decorative.
