1990's Fiam Itallia Glass Magazine Rack

Formed from a single sheet of thick structural glass, this piece is shaped into a continuous wave, allowing the material to do the work rather than relying on heavy framing. The glass is heat-bent and polished at the edges, with a soft green tint that’s typical of FIAM’s production. Minimal metal rods support the curve, keeping the focus on the glass itself.
 
What we like about this one is the balance it strikes. It’s practical — it does exactly what a magazine rack should — but it also reads as a sculptural object when empty. FIAM built their reputation on pushing glass beyond the decorative, and this is a good example of that thinking: confident, clean, and quietly architectural, without feeling showy or precious.
