19th C Large Architectural Salvage Brass Hinges
Originally made for a substantial door or shutter, these heavy brass hinges have real physical presence. The leaves are thick and weighty, with deep countersunk holes and a solid knuckle, all softened by long use. The surface shows honest pitting and wear, the kind that only comes from time, handling, and repeated fixing and removal.
What interests us now is how they read away from their original setting. Opened or folded, they feel almost sculptural — graphic, balanced, and surprisingly versatile. We like them used as bookends or simply stood on a shelf, where the weight, texture, and geometry do the work without needing explanation.
