19th Century Victorian Sorbetière

19th Century Victorian Sorbetière

£95.00Price

A solid and satisfyingly weighty Victorian-era ice cream container, likely made of pewter.  It was something about the smooth sculptural form that drew us to it, the rounded edges are most pleasing.

These were used before refrigeration, packed into ice-filled buckets to freeze custards, creams, or sorbets — a true sorbetière of the 19th century. The sturdy, arched handle and smooth cylindrical body are as practical as they are sculptural, with a timeless utilitarian charm.

A fantastic display piece or a functional curiosity from a slower, cooler kind of dessert-making.
