Abstract Bird Sculpture by Celia Lewis
A lovely example of a hand carved wood art sculpture, with a mix of wood textures creating a striking piece. We have had a piece of Celia's sculpture before and were shocked to come across another.
The sweeping lines, the colouring, the contrast in smooth versus natural wood - we couldn't resist.
A trained graphic designer who worked for the Civil Service at Porton, Celia first started wood carving following a trip over a root in the ground
Celia started carving from her garage in Winterslow, over 45 years ago. She creates fascinating animal and bird sculptures from tree trunks and branches. She transforms these pieces of wood into her delicate carvings, then finishes with Danish oil and wax for a lovely, warm texture.
She has displayed her work in numerous shows and exhibitions in the country, including the Royal Horticultural Society at Wisley.
