African Clay Cooking Pot

There is an undeniable tactility to this piece, which is what drew us to it in the first place.

The texturised bottom was most likely a feature for transport, making it easier to carry; and the thicker rim for perhaps sitting within a holder to keep the pot above open flame.
​
It would make a great cooking bowl, even today, however probably best admired as a decorative piece of functional art!
