Antique Native American Earthenware Bowl
Made by hand from earthenware clay, this bowl carries the geometric painted decoration characteristic of traditional Southwestern pottery. The softly irregular rim and smoke-darkened surface speak to a life shaped by hand rather than machine.
The most compelling detail, though, is the old fibre repair stitched across a hairline crack. Long before objects were collected, they were simply repaired and returned to use. It transforms what could have been a flaw into part of the bowl's story—a quiet reminder that usefulness once outweighed perfection.
As much as we admire the painted decoration, it's that simple repair that stops us in our tracks. It turns an already beautiful vessel into something deeply human.
Condition: Good - wear and repairs, which make it even better!
