Arts & Crafts Ecclesiastical Copper Stand
Hand-formed from sheet copper with a simple cylindrical collar and broad plate, the construction is honest and visible — you can still see the solder line underneath where it’s been joined by hand.
The hammering is irregular and organic, not decorative for the sake of it, but a by-product of the making. The surface has darkened naturally over time, leaving that warm copper glow in the centre where something once sat regularly.
It may have begun life on a small parish altar — perhaps holding a paten, a chalice, or a travelling communion vessel — though now it works just as well as a low candle stand or sculptural platform. We like that it still carries that quiet sense of purpose.
