Carved Eucalyptus Sculpture by Celia Lewis

A wonderfully fluid eucalyptus sculpture by British artist Celia Lewis, carved in 2004 and titled Feathers.

Lewis began carving in the 1970s, working largely with the natural forms of found and fallen timber.

Here, she has worked with the natural branching of the wood, carving it into a series of sweeping, almost wing-like forms while leaving the original trunk and bark visible at the base.

Part bird, part tree, and very good from pretty much every angle.

Signed, titled, dated and inscribed Eucalyptus by the artist.
