Carved Alabaster 'Di Capo' Head
This is one of those things, when you see it, you know you have to have it, no matter what.
At first we thought it was potentially plaster, however then we picked it up to notice how heavy it actually was! Due to the weight and how hard the stone is, we're pretty sure it is carved from alabaster. Also, coming from Italy, that certainly helps the case!
It has a very stoic look to it - the tag said 'di capo' meaning, 'the boss' or 'leader' - signifying some level of importance.
It's not often we come across things of such artistic quality and of such valuable material.
