Early 20th C Dhokra Cast Bronze Antelope
Made using the traditional lost-wax method practiced by Dhokra metalworkers in eastern and central India, this antelope has the long, lean proportions and simple texturing typical of early 20th-century pieces. It’s a lighter, more vertical form than many Dhokra animals, with that slightly angular stance you get from older village workshops rather than later commercial studios.
We picked it up because it has that straightforward, well-made feel we’re always drawn to — no embellishment, just the craft itself. And despite the modest footprint, the height gives it a presence that works nicely on a shelf or small console without taking over.
