Early Mid 20th C Hand-painted Icon of Saint Barbara
Painted on a solid wooden panel with twin cross braces to the reverse, this folk icon depicts Saint Barbara holding a chalice, her name written in Greek beside her halo. A hand-drawn Orthodox cross appears on the back, along with a faint pencil inscription repeating the saint’s name — signs of small workshop production.
The surface bears the marks of long use and handling, the paint worn to a dry warmth that reveals both the grain of the wood and the devotion that shaped it.
