Early Mid Century French Coffer Box

Small domed casket box, wood-built and clad in hand-worked metal, marked Made in France underneath.
 
Likely from the 1930s–50s, it’s one of those interwar workshop pieces made in rural France — tin or pewter sheet pressed and riveted over a simple timber form, nodding to medieval chests.
 
The scalloped trim and floral lid give it that rustic French-gothic feel that sat somewhere between folk craft and early souvenir.
