Expressionist Bronze Female Figure
A cast bronze female figure, one of a small group of works we found by the same unknown hand.
Roughly modelled and deliberately unresolved, the surface retains the marks and irregularities of the original modelling, while the elongated limbs and exaggerated poses give the figures a distinctly expressive quality.
There is a sexual charge to the series that is difficult — and probably rather pointless — to ignore. Here, the figure sits with legs spread and arms thrown upwards, a pose that feels somewhere between abandon, invitation and performance.
Not an especially ambiguous pose, perhaps, but no more interested in explaining herself.
