Hand Built Sculptural Bronze Side Table

The base is constructed from laminated solid timber blocks, stacked horizontally to form a compact, architectural mass. The top is a heavy metal plate with a recessed central bowl, secured via a concealed fixing that runs up through the core of the wood and locks into the metal from within. There are no visible fastenings — the engineering is internal, intentional, and integral to the design.
 
The metal shows natural ageing and oxidation within the recess, while the surrounding surface remains matte and restrained. The bowl isn’t decorative; it functions as both a focal point and the structural heart of the piece, pulling the weight of the top down into the timber base.
 
What appealed to us is the clarity of intent. This isn’t styled furniture — it’s an object built around gravity, compression, and use. Unattributed, but confident. Sculptural without being precious. The kind of table that earns its place through presence rather than explanation.
