Inca Inspired Andean Ceramic Vessel

£60.00Price

This one stood out straight away because of the shape. The body is rounded and compact, with a narrow neck and side handles, but it doesn’t sit perfectly flat. It settles rather than locks into place, which immediately makes you think about how it would have been used rather than how it would have been displayed.

In older Andean pottery, vessels weren’t always designed to live on hard, level surfaces. Many were meant to be held, poured from, or set into softer ground or supportive material, and you still feel that logic here. The slight instability keeps it feeling active — like an object that expects to be handled, not just parked.

The painted surface references Inca visual language, with bold geometric patterning in red, black, and natural clay tones, applied in clear, confident bands. The base is inscribed Cultura Inca and signed by the maker, pointing to the cultural source being referenced rather than the age of the piece itself. We liked it because the form does the storytelling — it doesn’t need much explanation once you’ve spent a moment with it.
