Japanese Bronze Abstract Sculpture
Some objects refuse to explain themselves. This is one of them.
Cast in bronze, the sculpture combines a softly rounded vessel-like body with a cluster of slender, forged-looking forms that rise from the top like abstract stems, symbols or antennae. It sits somewhere between sculpture and vessel without fully committing to either, which is exactly what makes it so compelling.
The surface has developed a rich, dark patina with flashes of deep green oxidation, giving the bronze real depth and texture. Small traces of red remain on one side, hinting at an earlier finish or the artist's original intention, while the three tiny feet lift the form just enough to give it a sense of lightness despite the material.
It's the sort of piece that quietly changes depending on where you place it. From one angle it feels architectural, from another almost botanical. We never found out exactly what it was meant to be—and we're perfectly happy leaving a little room for interpretation.
