Malachite Bowl I
Sometimes the stone does most of the design work.
Carved from a single piece of malachite, this small freeform bowl follows the natural contours and patterning of the material rather than forcing it into a regular shape. The surface is filled with the distinctive banding and eye formations that make malachite so recognisable, ranging from deep forest greens to lighter turquoise tones. One particularly striking concentric formation sits within the bowl itself, almost like a miniature landscape viewed from above.
We liked that this still feels connected to the original stone. The underside retains areas of natural matrix, while the bowl has been polished just enough to reveal the extraordinary patterns hidden within. Part decorative object, part geological wonder, and a good reminder that nature occasionally has better ideas than designers do.
