Malachite Bowl III
A small bowl carved from solid malachite, with the stone's natural banding doing most of the heavy lifting.
The polished surface reveals layers of deep green, lighter turquoise tones and concentric formations formed over millions of years. Unlike more dramatic examples, this piece feels almost graphic in its patterning, with a single eye-like formation sitting at the centre and flowing bands wrapping around the sides like contour lines on a map.
We liked the simplicity of it. No elaborate carving, just a good piece of malachite shaped into a form that lets the material speak for itself. Small enough for a bedside table or desk, but interesting enough to keep picking up and looking at from different angles.
