Mid-Century Blown Glass Vase
Hand-blown glass flask with a pale aqua tint and the seeded bubbles that come from traditional techniques.
The body is flattened with a raised circular medallion and tooled collar, its surface etched with a sailing ship and the date 1742. Whether it began life in the 18th century or was blown two hundred years later as a commemorative piece, it carries that sense of history in its form.
A reminder of how glassmakers have long used their craft to mark moments and events, from naval battles to local anniversaries.
