Mid Century Buddhist Altar Rintō Lantern
Originally made to illuminate a Buddhist household altar, this mid-century brass rintō balances an almost architectural simplicity with quiet ritual purpose. The broad domed shade protects the flame below, while the suspended frame gives the whole piece an unexpected sense of lightness.
Even unlit, it has an unmistakable presence. Hung in a window or against a plain wall, it reads less as a religious object and more as a small piece of functional sculpture—its clean geometry and warm brass doing all the work.
