Mid Century German Pewter Box
A heavy pewter box cast in deep relief, showing a marching line of figures, horses and chariots wrapping right around its sides.
The design has that odd mid-century fascination with the ancient world — part Roman, part Egyptian, all reimagined in crisp German pewter. Stamped FBV (Friedrich-Bode Vlotho and 95% Rein Zinn on the base, it’s a post-war piece from Bavaria, solidly made and still carrying that cool grey sheen pewter gets with age.
A mix of myth and modern craft, and surprisingly satisfying to hold.
