Mid Century Scandinavian Forged Candelabra

Forged in pale steel, this three-armed candelabrum has the clean, architectural lines you see in Scandinavian metalwork from the 1960s onward. The tripod base, the stepped collars along each stem, and the careful balance of the frame all point to studio craft rather than factory production. At the centre sits a raised cross — clearly intentional, though how directly it was meant to reference churchware is left to interpretation — giving the piece a subtle sense of purpose without overwhelming the form.
 
We chose it for the silhouette. It’s tall and architectural but still feels handmade, and the lighter steel has a softer, pewter-like tone that works in so many settings. It’s the sort of piece that reads differently depending on where you put it — part modernist sculpture, part functional lighting — which is exactly why it earned its place at Opto.
