Scottish School Copper and Enamel Wall Sculpture by Joseph G. Currie
A late-20th-century copper wall sculpture by Scottish metalworker Joseph G. Currie, made in Edinburgh and finished with his signature enamel interior.
The exterior is all hand-formed copper — folded, soldered, and heat-patinated into a tapered geometric shape with those curled, organic edges. Inside, the enamel brings the colour: layered cobalt, yellow and soft rose tones fused directly onto the metal.
It’s a striking contrast — the quiet, weathered copper outside and the saturated colour inside — and very typical of Currie’s studio work from the 1980s–90s. The original Edinburgh address label is still on the back. It hangs from a single loop at the base and sits slightly off the wall, catching the light nicely.
A good one for adding texture and colour without being too loud, and a rare piece from a lesser-known but skilled Scottish maker.
