Vintage Capiz Shell Scalloped Edge Bowl

A small bowl made from capiz shell, each panel cut and set into a simple brass frame.
 
The shell has that soft, milky translucency — it catches the light rather than reflecting it — so it shifts depending on where it ends up. Scalloped edge, slightly uneven joins, and just enough variation across the panels to keep it from feeling too perfect. The brass has dulled back over time, which helps.
 
Originally made as a decorative serving piece, though it’s doing a bit more than that now. Lightweight, a little delicate, and easy to underestimate — right up until you move it around and realise it quietly sorts a space out.
 
Condition: Excellent - patination expected with age
