Vintage Indian Etched Brass Keepsake Box
We weren’t entirely sure what it was meant to hold, which is usually a good sign.
Hand-etched brass with a repeating floral pattern running all the way round, sat on four small feet with a slightly overbuilt lid that gives it more presence than you’d expect. The engraving isn’t perfect — a bit uneven in places — but that’s exactly where the character sits. You can see the hand in it.
Originally likely a jewellery or keepsake box, but it’s one of those pieces that doesn’t really care what ends up inside. It’s more about the surface, the weight, and the fact it looks like it’s been around long enough to have already held a few different lives.
