Japan, mid 20th century. A pair of small ceremonial cymbal bells, hand-spun in bronze with warm aged patination and suspended from their original braided cords. Traditionally used in Buddhist ritual, meditation or ceremonial performance, they produce a clear, delicate tone when struck together.
